About our Police Foundations program
You’ll develop essential communication and critical thinking skills used in policing and community safety environments. Your training includes working effectively with diverse and vulnerable populations while studying topics such as mental health, addictions and at-risk communities.
You’ll explore sociology and criminology while building knowledge of harm reduction, crisis intervention and professional communication. Coursework also introduces key elements of Canada’s legal system, including Law Fundamentals, the Criminal Code, federal and provincial statutes, community policing and investigative procedures.
This program is designed to place you on a pathway toward opportunities in provincial police services, private security, youth services and border services, among other public safety roles.
