About our Medical and Health Administration program

You’ll learn how to update patient records, schedule and confirm appointments, interview patients for case histories and manage incoming phone calls and correspondence. Your training also covers maintaining medical inventory, transcribing reports and processing computerized OHIP billing.

You’ll receive hands-on instruction in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, along with ABELMed medical management software. Coursework includes medical terminology and transcription, medical office procedures and infection control and safety practices.

A field-related practicum allows you to apply your training in a real healthcare setting, helping you gain practical experience and confidence in a medical office environment.

Graduates are prepared to pursue opportunities as medical office assistants, unit clerks, hospital admitting clerks, medical receptionists, patient services coordinators and medical records clerks.

To help you move forward with confidence, a dedicated Career Services Advisor supports you with resume writing, interview preparation and job search strategies. As a Canadian Business College graduate, you’ll continue to have access to job postings, professional workshops and career counselling.
