About our Community Services Worker program

You’ll learn how to prepare intake reports, assess a client’s needs and strengths, refer individuals to appropriate services and monitor their progress. Your training also covers crisis intervention techniques and how to work collaboratively with community agencies on behalf of your clients.

You’ll study introductory courses in psychology, sociology and social work in Canada while building your understanding of family dynamics, at-risk populations, mental health and addiction. You’ll develop counselling and interviewing skills and learn how to work effectively within a team-based support environment.

A field-related practicum gives you the opportunity to apply your skills in a real-world setting and gain valuable insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of community service work.

Graduates are prepared to pursue opportunities in addiction treatment centres, mental health agencies, drop-in centres, group homes and youth facilities.

To help you move forward with confidence, a dedicated Career Services Advisor supports you with resume writing, interview preparation and job search strategies. As a Canadian Business College graduate, you’ll continue to have access to job postings, professional workshops and career counselling.
